Meet Dr. Gurley!

Hi, I’m Dr. Gurley. For nearly 40 years, I’ve had the privilege of helping people feel more confident in their smiles—and it’s truly what I love to do.

My path into dentistry began with a passion for both science and art. I developed an appreciation for how technical skill and creativity can work hand in hand. That perspective has stayed with me throughout my career, shaping the way I approach every smile. I’ve always believed dentistry is as much an art as it is a science, and I take great pride in creating results that are not only healthy and functional, but uniquely tailored to each individual.

I’m naturally detail-oriented and approach my work with an artistic eye, always focusing on the small nuances that make a smile feel authentic and truly personal. Just as important to me is how my patients feel. I strive to create a welcoming, comfortable environment where people feel heard, cared for, and at ease from the moment they walk in.

For me, the most rewarding part of what I do is building relationships and helping patients leave with a smile that feels like the very best version of themselves.

My Story

My path to dentistry started at the University of Tennessee, where I studied Biology, along with a second major in Psychology and a minor in Art. Looking back, that mix of science, understanding people, and creativity really shaped how I approach dentistry today.

I went on to earn my dental degree from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, and then entered the U.S. Army to complete a one-year General Practice Residency. During my time in the Army, I served as a dentist and held the rank of Captain, and was later promoted to Major before finishing my service.

Not long after my time in the military, I moved to Alpharetta, Georgia, and opened my practice. Since then, I’ve loved building relationships with my patients and helping them feel confident in their smiles. For me, dentistry is about more than just technical skill—it’s about caring for people, paying attention to the details, and creating results that feel natural and truly make a difference.

Today, I call Alpharetta home, where I live with my wife, Tracie, our four children, and a lively collection of animals—including dogs, horses, donkeys, and chickens. Outside of dentistry, I enjoy astrophotography and the challenge of capturing the beauty of the night sky, as well as building detailed Lego car models—many of which are displayed in my office for patients to enjoy.
